Hikes with History

We work with holiday companies organising tours in the Peak District associated with local history. We’ll provide a bespoke guided walk from the front door, or locally, that compliments your guests’ holiday experience.

Our focus is:

  • To listen to you and understand the aspirations of your client group, creating a walk that matches their interests and experience.
  • To be flexible in terms of timing, routes, distance and challenge.
  • To support your tour guide with our local knowledge as they make their plans.
  • To seamlessly work as part of a team delivering a friendly and professional client experience.
  • To share our knowledge of history, culture, wildlife and landscape.

Client Experience: Eyam Moors and the Great Plague!

Beginning on a high ridge at Bretton, with a panorama stretching over the White Peak, this walk takes a moorland track with gorgeous views over Abney Clough, Eyam Moor and the summit of William Hill.  The hike gradually descends into Eyam, a famous village that quarantined itself in 1666 to protect the population and local villages from an outbreak of the plague.  Explore the village, see the houses where it all began and visit the tea room and museum – it’s a beautiful Peak District walk with a fascinating story that has resonance today.

  • The walk is approximately 10km/6 miles in length with 200m/656 ft of ascent.
  • It’s a linear walk and ideal if you are providing minibus or coach transport.
  • The walk can be converted to a circular walk, shortened or extended.
  • Whilst there are ascents, the overall profile of the walk descends from start to finish enabling walkers to benefit from high views without too much climbing.
