Kinder Circuit Challenge Walk - Peak Walking Adventures

Description

On this route we only have one big ascent – from Edale, via the rocky edge of Ringing Roger, and up onto the plateau’s southern edge. We then follow the perimeter eastwards to the quiet, northern side of Kinder. Here we traverse the tops of Blackden Edge, Seal Edge and Fairbrook Naze – there are trickling brooks, rocky outcrops, wild moorland slopes and views over Woodlands Valley and the Snake Pass far below. We continue to the western edge, joining the Pennine Way high above Kinder Reservoir. Passing Kinder Downfall, the plateau’s deepest waterfall, we arrive at Kinder Low End, the highest trig point in the Peak District at 2077ft/633m. Here the Vale of Edale and Mam Tor’s Great Ridge are revealed again, as we re-join the southern edge. We pass the wind-carved rock formations, Crowden Tower and the Woolpacks and finally the summit of Grindslow Knoll before completing the circuit with a descent to Edale Village.

Qualified Mountain Leader or Hill and Moorland Leader with Outdoor First Aid Qualifications.
Guiding throughout the day with briefing advice and support to ensure your safety.
Narrative on local points of interest, wildlife, geology, history and culture.
Optional photography of your day which can be shared with you.
The option of a free, return lift from a station or bus stop to the start of your walk to encourage sustainable travel. We can only arrange this if we have spare space in our vehicle and the pick-up point is reasonably close to your walk. Ask us when you book.

Not Included:

Parking or transport costs associated with your walk.
Essential walking kit or food.
Navigation equipment and maps for Navigation Courses (we will help if we have spares).

Meeting and Parking

We meet at the main Edale Village Car Park, next to the village hall and public toilets, post code S33 7ZA.

Please note:

This post code covers a wide area, and so a sat nav might not take you to exactly the right place.
Please also be aware that mobile phone signals in the Vale of Edale are poor, therefore it’s recommended that you check maps and that you know the exact location of the car park before you start your journey.
The cost of car parking is (currently) £6 and the ticket machine may only take coins.

Coming by Bus or Train?
We’re keen to support public transport use and reduce emissions. If you’re arriving at Edale Station by Train, the car park where we meet is on the opposite site of the road to the train station. Or if you are arriving by train or bus at another location reasonably nearby, we’ll give you a free lift. Just ask us when you book.

Facilities

There are toilets in the car park where we meet and the Penny Pot Café is opposite the car park, next to the train station. Edale is a small busy village with cafes, pubs, a shop and accommodation. See map here.
